In Bellary, Karnataka, 27-year-old Nabi Rasool was murdered, hours after his wedding reception. He had a love marriage, which his family was against. The police are investigating it considering it a case of honor killing.
Bengaluru: A sensational news has come from Bellary, Karnataka. Here a newly-wed groom was murdered just hours after his wedding reception. The deceased has been identified as 27 year old Nabi Rasool. Police suspect that this could be a case of honor killing, because the girl’s family was strictly against this love marriage.
Nabi Rasool had a love marriage with a divorced woman about 15 days ago. Both of them ran away from home and got married. The girl’s family was not at all happy with this relationship and were strongly opposing it. However, Nabi’s family accepted both of them and even hosted a wedding reception for them on Thursday. After the reception party, around 11:30 pm on Thursday night, Nabi Rasool came home saying that one of his friends was calling him and he went out of the house. But when he did not return till 2 am, the family members got worried and started searching for him.
During the search, Nabi Rasool’s body was found about 700 meters from the house. The police have prima facie declared it a case of murder, although the real cause of death has not been revealed yet. At present, the police investigation rests on the girl’s family, who were against this marriage.
Bellary District Superintendent of Police (SP) Suman D. Pennekar also visited the spot and took stock of the investigation. The forensic team also reached the spot and collected evidence. In this case, a case of murder has been registered at Kaul Bazar Police Station. A special investigation team has been formed to nab the accused. Police are interrogating Nabi Rasool’s family, friends and people nearby.
