Big news has come out regarding smartphone company OnePlus. The company is planning to phase out its business outside China in the next few years. Under this strategy, business from America and Europe will be merged first, while the company can continue working in India till 2027.
This decision is being taken in view of business pressure, increasing competition and global political circumstances.
Business will continue in India till 2027
According to Bloomberg report, OnePlus’ parent company Oppo is preparing to make a big change in its global business. Under this, OnePlus’ business can be closed first in America and Europe. At the same time, the company will continue the sale and services of its smartphones in India and there is a possibility of exiting here by 2027. However, the company will continue its business in China as before.
Pressure and legal challenges in business became major reasons
According to the report, OnePlus could not get the expected success in markets like America, Europe and India. It was difficult for the company to increase its share in these markets among Apple, Samsung and other brands. Apart from this, the increasing strictness on Chinese companies in America and the ongoing legal dispute with Apple have also increased the challenges of the company. In such a situation, Oppo now wants to focus its resources on limited markets.
New strategy in Europe, direction of Realme will also change
The report says that Oppo will not leave Europe completely, but now its focus will be on Central Europe. At the same time, Oppo’s other brand Realme is preparing to exit the domestic market of China and will focus more on the Nordic countries of Europe like Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland, where the company’s position is considered relatively better.
Difficulties increased due to expensive components and weak sales
The global shortage of memory chips and rising costs have also affected smartphone companies. Especially for OnePlus’ budget Nord series, making phones at low prices is not as easy as before. On the other hand, there has been a decline in smartphone sales in China also. In such an environment, it is becoming challenging for the company to survive in less profitable markets. However, at present no official statement has been issued by OnePlus or Oppo on this report.
