2027 men’s ODI World Cup Schedule: The ICC ODI World Cup 2027 is to be played jointly by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. A big information has come to light regarding this biggest tournament of ODI cricket. According to media reports, this mega event will start from 4 October 2027 and continue till 21 November 2027. A total of 54 matches will be played in this tournament which will last for about one and a half month, where the top-14 teams of the world will compete against each other to win the trophy.

The 2027 World Cup is going to be quite different from the previous i.e. 2023 edition. This time ICC has returned to the 2003 format, where 14 teams will be divided into two groups of 7 each. Then the top-3 teams of each group will enter the ‘Super-Six’ round. After this, the top 4 teams of Super-Six will reach the semi-finals and then the title match will be played on 21st November.

How many matches will be held in which country?

The tournament will be organized in three countries, in which South Africa will play the role of main host. According to reports, most of the matches and knockout matches of the tournament will be held in 8 stadiums of South Africa. This includes Wanderers of Johannesburg, Newlands of Cape Town and Kingsmead of Durban. At the same time, matches will be organized in two cities of Zimbabwe, Harare and Bulawayo. Apart from this, Namibia will host a major ICC event for the first time and matches will be played on two grounds there too.

Which 14 teams will get a chance?

Host South Africa and Zimbabwe have got direct entry for ODI World Cup 2027. Apart from these, the top-8 teams of ICC ranking will qualify directly. But Namibia is definitely the host, but it will have to go through the qualifier round to confirm its place. There will be competition for the remaining 3-4 places in the qualifier tournament. At the same time, the Indian team will also be eyeing to forget the defeat of 2023 and create history in this new format.
