To stop electricity theft in Etawah, the Electricity Corporation will now lock the electricity poles. A plan has been made to prevent electricity theft by installing locks in the boxes installed on electric poles. In the first phase, about one and a half thousand locks have been ordered from the department and have started getting installed. Locks will be installed in the boxes installed on all the electric poles in Etawah district. To connect the line from inside the box, the key will be available with the line man of the concerned area. The cable of only that person who has a valid connection will be connected to the box. The department has prepared this formula because electricity theft is increasing in the district.
Efforts to improve the power supply system in Etawah district are continuing. To prevent electricity theft, the department has now started the work of locking every connection box. Now without connection no one’s wire will be able to connect to the box. The key of the box will remain with the concerned line man. Superintending Engineer Manoj Gaur said that the department has already purchased 1200 locks for the first phase and the work of installing them has also been started.
The electricity supply system in the district has not been completely repaired. Every day there are incidents of broken wires and at other places the supply gets affected due to other problems. Apart from this, electricity theft is also a big problem. According to the officials of the Electricity Department, continuous action is being taken regarding this. The work of installing ABC (Aerial Bunch Conductor) cables in place of the previously installed overhead wires in the villages has also been completed.
Connection boxes will be locked.
To provide supply through ABC cable, connection boxes have also been installed on poles at various places and connections are given to a maximum of 10 consumers from one box, but this system is also being exploited by electricity thieves. The department believes that due to the connection box being open, some people tamper with it, due to which the supply is affected. Now, at the places where ABC cable work is being done, the executing organization carrying out the work has been instructed to lock all the connection boxes after making the connections of the regular consumers. The locks of all connection boxes belonging to a feeder will have the same key so that the employees do not have to face trouble in solving the electrical problem.
12 hundred locks were purchased
For proper supply of electricity, connection boxes are installed on each pole but they remain open. Due to this, some people steal electricity arbitrarily and with the help of department employees. Now it will not be easy to do all this when it is locked.
Giving information, Superintending Engineer Manoj Gaur said that the work of installing ABC cable is going on at the places in the first phase. In the first phase, 12 hundred locks have been purchased. It is also stated that all connection boxes belonging to a feeder have the same key.
