The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) on Saturday issued a notice to the Jharkhand government over Congress Minister Irfan Ansari’s derogatory remarks against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sita Soren. In this notice, the Commission has called for a report within three days regarding the action taken on the allegations.
Notice has been given to the Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary of Home Department, Deputy Commissioner of Jamtara and SP. In its notice, the NCST Commission said that if it does not receive a reply within the stipulated period then it can issue summons to the officers to appear before the Commission.

On Friday, the state unit of BJP filed a complaint with the Election Commission accusing Irfan Ansari of making derogatory remarks about party leader Sita Soren. Sita Soren shared a video of her alleged comment on X and demanded an apology from the Congress minister.

In response, Irfan Ansari accused the video of tampering. On Saturday, a delegation of Jharkhand Congress submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission demanding strict action against BJP for tarnishing the image of Irfan Ansari.
The Congress delegation met Chief Electoral Officer K. A pen drive containing Ansari’s original video was handed over to Ravi Kumar. He claimed that BJP is circulating misleading portions of the video on social media in an attempt to tarnish the image of Irfan Ansari.
Sita Soren is contesting against Irfan
BJP has named Sita Soren as its candidate to contest against Irfan Ansari from Jamtara Assembly seat, where voting will be held in the second phase on November 20. Congress leader Rajesh Gupta said that Ansari has been continuously the target of BJP leaders. Gupta said that the allegations against Ansari are baseless. Since BJP is lagging behind in the Jamtara Assembly race, its leaders are resorting to such statements to remain relevant.
Shivraj Chauhan condemned
Congress requested the Election Commission to take strict action to prevent such false and misleading propaganda in future, to ensure that the electoral process remains fair and clean. Meanwhile, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan condemned Ansari’s comments about Sita Soren and termed it an insult to the women of Jharkhand. He urged Chief Minister Hemant Soren to immediately remove Irfan Ansari from his cabinet for such statements.
