Not with Splendor… Here is the real competition between Hero and Royal Enfield

When it comes to motorcycles, the first name that comes to our mind is Hero MotoCorp. At the same time, the name of Royal Enfield is enough for cruiser bikes. On one side is Hero, which is known for commuter bikes like the very popular Splendor, while on the other side is Royal Enfield, which is famous for cruiser bikes. At first glance, both these companies seem to be working in different segments, but in recent times, Hero has started giving tough competition to Royal Enfield.

Hero and Royal Enfield clash: from commuter to cruiser

Hero MotoCorp’s name was earlier associated with bikes like Splendor, Passion and HF Deluxe, which are very popular in the commuter segment. At the same time, Royal Enfield has made its mark in the cruiser segment through bikes like Classic 350, Bullet 350, Meteor 350. But now things have changed.

Hero MotoCorp has partnered with Harley Davidson, the world’s largest cruiser bike One of the brands. This partnership is moving in a new direction. Through this, Hero has also introduced its bikes in the cruiser segment.

By launching Harley Davidson X440 and Hero Mavrick 440 in the market, Hero gives direct competition to Royal Enfield. Both these bikes compete with Royal Enfield’s bikes like Classic 350, Bullet 350, Hunter 350, and Meteor 350.

Apart from this, Royal Enfield also sells bikes in the segment above 350cc, of which Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450 can be named.

Price game: Hero and Royal Enfield

If we talk about prices, Hero has kept its bikes a little more affordable than Royal Enfield, which is a big factor in attracting the attention of customers. Compared to the engine capacity, the prices of Hero bikes appear affordable.

Starting ex-showroom price of two bikes of Hero MotoCorp-

Hero Harley Davidson X440: ₹2,39,500
Hero Mavrick 440: ₹1,99,000

Whereas the starting ex-showroom price of Royal Enfield bikes is like this-

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450: ₹2,85,000

Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450: ₹2,39,000

Royal Enfield Meteor 350: ₹2,05,900

Royal Enfield Classic 350: ₹1,93,080

Royal Enfield Bullet 350: ₹1,73,562

Royal Enfield Hunter 350: ₹1,49,900

Here, the price of Hero’s Mavrick 440 and Harley Davidson X440 is quite attractive compared to Royal Enfield, especially when it comes to cruiser bikes, which are generally expensive.

Emerging challenge in the market

Royal Enfield already has a strong consumer base, but the new offerings from Hero and their reduction in prices have posed a challenge for Royal Enfield. Especially a bike like Hero Mavrick 440 which is available at a very affordable price. These cruisers mark a new change in the bike segment.

However, Royal Enfield has a big fan group, and the prestige of its bikes is not going to go away so easily. But Hero has proved with its new bikes that it is not just a company that makes commuter bikes, but it can also make its name in the premium cruiser segment.
