Akhilesh further said that why did you not name Netaji (Mulayam) and ‘socialists’? Akhilesh Yadav remembered that his uncle had asked Shekhar Kapoor. He said that it was the then Mulayam Singh government which withdrew cases against Phoolan Devi and other dacoits involved in the Behmai massacre.

Akhilesh Yadav said that the dacoits had laid a condition for surrender that they should be released from jail. All except Phoolan Devi were released. So Netaji withdrew the cases registered against him, Akhilesh Yadav said that Phoolan Devi, who later joined politics. Akhilesh Yadav said that SP founder Mulayam Singh contested from Bhadohi twice in 1996 and 1999 and sent Phoolan Devi to Parliament.
