Not bound to accept Congress’s ‘unilateral decisions’… TMC keeps distance

After the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections, the rift between the constituent parties of the India Alliance has started coming to the fore. During the winter session of Parliament, TMC has taken a different path from Congress and said that Trinamool Congress (TMC) is not bound to accept the unilateral decisions of Congress.

TMC has decided to give priority to people’s issues in the ongoing winter session of Parliament, party leaders say that TMC will raise issues related to West Bengal and the country in Parliament, as this is its commitment.

According to a PTI report, TMC’s deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, said that the party does not want the Parliament proceedings to be disrupted on one issue. He indirectly mentioned Congress’s stand on the allegations against industrialist Gautam Adani.

TMC took a different path from Congress

TMC leaders say that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has supported the party’s stand in Parliament. Trinamool Congress made it clear that even though it is a part of the India alliance, it is not an electoral ally of the Congress. Let us tell you that in the Lok Sabha elections, Congress and TMC had contested separately in Bengal, but later Mamata Banerjee said that she is ready to support Congress, but now again TMC seems to be taking a different path.

TMC leaders say that their party is not bound to follow the unilateral decisions taken by the Congress. He said that he does not want the proceedings of the Parliament to be disrupted due to just one issue and the functioning of the Parliament should not go on.

TMC will raise issues related to public in Parliament

Along with this, TMC is planning to raise important issues in the Parliament like the ongoing violence in Manipur and the delay in approving the Aparajita Women and Children (West Bengal Criminal Law and Amendment) Bill.

Apart from this, the party is planning to raise issues like price rise, unemployment and fertilizer shortage in the Parliament. Dastidar said TMC will increasingly focus on people’s issues to raise in Parliament. We do not want Parliament to be disrupted because of one issue. We must hold this government accountable for its many failures.
