From July 1, getting a passport made or re-issued will become costlier than before. The Central Government has decided to increase the fees for passport services, under which the new rates will be applicable for 36 and 60 page passports of both ordinary and tatkal categories. The fee for re-issuing a lost passport has also been increased. However, there has been no change in other rules related to validity and issuance of passport. The government says that the duty has been revised after about 14 years and the new rates will be effective from July 1.
