Reflecting on the tense final moments of their one-run victory, Veer stated, “We were confident we still had a chance. If we could take one or two wickets, we could turn the game around. Siddhu’s extraordinary bowling was pivotal in achieving that. I dedicate my Player of the Match award to him.”

Veer’s choice to bowl Siddhu at such a crucial moment was a well-considered risk based on his keen situational awareness. He explained, “I observed how Naman was bowling from the other end. The ball wasn’t gripping well, and it was slightly wet. The boundaries were short on that side, so I thought we should take a chance since they needed only 17 runs. We needed wickets, and I believed Siddhu could provide that opportunity.”

Following a brief rain delay, he recalibrated his approach. “After surviving the no-ball, I thought about what I could do next. With only 10 balls left, I needed to make an impact. I decided to hit the ball behind or over the field, depending on its delivery,” he shared. Recognizing the seam movement favoring fast bowlers early on, Veer adjusted his strategy and hit three consecutive sixes in the final over, leading Noida to a total of 154/6.
Adapting Strategies and Leadership
While defending their total, Veer’s initial strategy faced challenges when early wickets did not fall, but a tactical shift during the middle overs kept the Noida Kings competitive. “We were confident it could be a one-sided game because their fast bowlers were performing well, and the ball was moving a lot,” Veer explained. “I thought if we could take one or two early wickets, we would be back in the game. However, that didn’t happen. We changed the ball after 10 overs, which turned the game in our favor.” Veer credited his experienced teammates for their support, stating, “I’m enjoying captaincy. My seniors have been very helpful. I consult players like Shiva Singh, Aditya Sharma, and Madhav Kaushik before making decisions, which has led to some excellent choices. Everything is going well so far.”
