toll barrier
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has taken a big step to make highway travel easier and faster in the country. The ministry said on Saturday that the National Highway Authority of India has started the country’s first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) i.e. non-stop toll system in Gujarat. This system has been implemented at eighty-four toll plazas on the Surat-Bharuch section of NH-48.
41,500 vehicles passed on the very first day
With the introduction of the new system, a good response was also seen. On the very first day, about 41,500 vehicles passed through this toll point without stopping. It is clear from this that people are adopting this new technology rapidly.
Now no need to stop at toll
The biggest feature of the MLFF system is that there will be no barriers at the toll plaza. Trains will pass directly without stopping and toll will be deducted automatically. This will eliminate the problem of traffic jams to a great extent and the journey will become smoother.
New technology will automatically cut toll
This system is based on Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and FASTag technology. As soon as the vehicle passes the toll point, its number plate is scanned and the toll fee is automatically deducted from the FASTag. There is very little human interference in this.
Reduction in time, fuel and pollution
According to the government, this system will not only reduce travel time but will also save fuel. Besides, the pollution emitted from vehicles will also reduce, which will benefit the environment.
It is important to maintain balance in FASTag
Highway users have been advised to maintain sufficient balance in their FASTag. If the balance decreases or FASTag becomes invalid, an e-notice will be issued. If payment is not made within 72 hours, you may have to pay double the fee.
Toll system will be more transparent
The government believes that toll collection through MLFF system will be more transparent and cheaper. This will help in creating a modern, fast and efficient highway network across the country.
