Science News: Just imagine that you are climbing a snowy mountain. Suddenly you see a dead body there, surely you will be a little shocked and a little scared. But what happens when you come to know that this dead body is years old, it just looks fresh. You may not be able to believe this. But such incidents are common in high snowy rocks. Actually, there is no mystery behind this but science. Normally a dead body soon starts rotting or melting. Then she becomes a skeleton. But this does not happen in snowy mountains. Rather they go into deep freezer mode. The reason behind this is extreme cold and lack of oxygen under the snow.
This is the reason that when these corpses come out after years or centuries when the ice melts, they look absolutely fresh. So fresh that the viewer feels as if the person had died just a few hours ago. Today we will tell you some such incidents, after hearing which you too will be forced to bite your teeth.
1. John Torrington’s body found after 140 years
This is the most shocking incident in history. In fact, in the year 1845, a British Navy team under the leadership of Sir John Franklin had set out in search of a sea route to the North Pole. But fate had something else in store. This ship got stuck in ice. All the people aboard were killed. In the year 1984 (about 140 years later), a team of scientists dug up the frozen ice of Beachy Island, Canada. Then they found the body of one of the crew’s sailors, 20-year-old John Torrington, buried in the snow.

When the scientists opened the coffin, they were stunned. John Torrington’s mummy was completely fresh. He had brown hair on his face, his eyes were half open. It seemed as if he was looking directly at the scientists. The ice had also protected his lungs and internal organs. For this reason, scientists were also able to find out that he died of pneumonia and lead poisoning.
2. Dead body of Tsevans Paljor still intact
The temperature on the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, remains several degrees below zero. Here you will find dozens of dead bodies on the way which are decades old, but even today they look as fresh as they were on the day of their death. The most famous corpse in Everest’s ‘Death Zone’ (above 8000 meters) is that of ‘Green Boots’. This body is of Indian mountaineer Tsewang Paljor, who died in the 1996 Everest storm. For the last 30 years, his body has been lying on one side in a snowy cave on the main route of Everest. The bright green trekking boots, red-blue jacket and clothes on his body still look like brand new. It seems as if a tired mountaineer has just closed his eyes and fallen asleep on the snow for a while.

3. Bodies of First World War soldiers found after 90 years
During the First World War (1914-1918), there was a battle between the soldiers of Italy and Austria on the high snowy mountains of the Alps. It is also called ‘White War’. Here hundreds of soldiers went missing due to snow storms and glaciers. In recent years, when the glaciers of the Alps started melting due to global warming, the bodies of these soldiers started coming out from within the ice. In 2004, the bodies of three Austrian soldiers were found out of the snow.
His army uniform, leather belt, cap and shoes were completely safe on his body. Even his wounds and facial features were the same, as if he had been martyred just yesterday. Local people thought that there was a recent crash, but later it was found out that these bodies were 90 years old.

4. Hundreds of years old ‘Ice Maiden’ of Siberia
This incident will really surprise you. In 1993, archaeologists found the body of a woman buried inside a block of ice in the Ukok Plateau, an extremely cold plateau in Siberia, Russia. This woman was a princess or revered woman of the Pazyryk culture, about 2,500 years old. He was buried with six horses and valuables.
Because she was encased in permafrost, her body was amazingly preserved. The most surprising thing was that the tattoos on his skin, which had pictures of imaginary animals and deer, were still clearly visible, as if someone had applied the ink on his skin only a few days ago.

What is the scientific reason behind these?
In fact, the temperature in icy rocks constantly remains far below zero, due to which the bacteria (which decompose the body) become completely inactive. Along with this, cold winds dry up the moisture of the body, causing the body to become freeze-dry. This is the reason that even after centuries, these dead bodies look as if someone is sleeping in deep sleep.
