NMC’s strict stance on CCTV in medical colleges
New Delhi [भारत]July 8 (ANI): The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public notice directing medical colleges and institutions under its purview to follow mandatory CCTV installation and surveillance-sharing norms.
According to the notice, under existing NMC rules it is mandatory for medical colleges to install 25 cameras at designated locations, install a network video recorder (NVR) and maintain playback of the footage for 30 days. Citing UGMSR-2023 dated August 16, 2023, PGMSR-2023 (Amendment) dated February 2, 2026 and MARB Regulations 2023 dated June 2, 2023, the notice said that these instructions have been given earlier also. Despite this, the Commission found that many institutions failed to follow the rules.
Commission’s warning, follow the rules immediately
The notice said that “NMC team has continuously followed-up with those medical colleges which have not followed the above NMC rules/guidelines for installation of CCTV systems and have not shared their feeds through NVR, but still some medical colleges have not yet linked their NVRs with the Commission.”
NMC further said that “All such medical colleges/institutions under NMC which are not following the above rules/guidelines are directed to comply with the same on immediate basis.”
The notice identified 70 colleges and institutions for not following the rules and urged them to expeditiously adopt the directive. (ANI)
