What did you see in the teaser?

The new teaser shows that the design of the Tecton is very similar to Nissan’s large SUV ‘Patrol’. Connected LED DRLs and multi-pod LED headlamps have been provided in its front. There is a big ‘Tekton’ badging on the bonnet, which gives it a powerful look. The front grille is accented with red Nissan badges, while a strip of chrome runs across the width of the car. Silver cladding has also been used extensively in the lower part of the bumper.

Boxy look like Renault Duster

Earlier teasers had also shown alloy wheels with Tecton’s special multi-spoke design. This car is built on the same platform as Renault Duster, hence its overall look is also boxy. The rear door handle is hidden behind the window, giving it the feel of a two-door car. Apart from this, muscular lines are given on the rear quarter panel and roof rails.

The rear of the Nissan Tecton has a connected LED tail lamp setup, with the Nissan logo placed in the middle. Its rear bumper has a layered design and is square. Additionally, a rear spoiler has also been provided for a sporty look. According to previous teasers, the rear of the Tecton will also be boxy, but will appear slightly smaller than the front.

tecton badging

There is a roof spoiler on top of the car, which is surrounded by aero blades. At the rear, there is a Nissan logo in the center of the boot lid and simple LED taillamps on either side, which are connected to an LED light bar. ‘Tekton’ badging is also given at the bottom of the boot lid. Nissan has not yet revealed the interior of the Tecton, but earlier sketches suggest that the dashboard may have a piano black finish with golden accents.

Features and safety

It is expected that the list of features of the new Nissan Tecton will be similar to the Renault Duster. Features like 10.1-inch Google-integrated touchscreen infotainment system, powered and ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, 10.25-inch digital driver display, wireless smartphone charging, connected car technology, auto headlamps, cruise control and auto-dimming IRVM can be found in it.

For safety, it will be provided with features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic parking brake (EPB), tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat mount, front and rear parking sensors, hill hold assist (HHA), disc brakes on all four wheels, 360-degree camera and level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System).

engine option

The Nissan Tecton is based on the Renault Duster, so it is likely to get the same two turbocharged petrol engines as the Duster, with manual and automatic transmission options. The special thing is that the strong-hybrid powertrain coming in Duster this year can also be given in Tecton later.

price and competition

Nissan Tecton is expected to be launched by the end of this year. Its ex-showroom price can start from Rs 10.50 lakh. In the compact SUV segment, it will compete with Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Tata Sierra and Curve, Toyota Highrider, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos and Citroen Aircross.
