Nirjala Ekadashi 2026: Every year the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi is observed on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month. This is considered to be the biggest and most auspicious Ekadashi of the year. The fast of Nirjala Ekadashi is the most difficult among all Ekadashi fasts. This year the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi is going to be observed on 25th June i.e. tomorrow. On this day, devotees of Lord Vishnu keep a waterless fast. This is the reason why it is called the most difficult fast.
There is a religious belief that by observing the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi and worshiping Lord Vishnu as per the rituals, one attains the virtue of all the Ekadashi fasts. At the same time, the soul gets freedom from the cycle of birth and death and attains a place in Vaikuntha Dham. As important as it is to observe this fast as per the rules, it is equally important to break this fast as per the rules. It is believed that the fast is completed only after observing Nirjala Ekadashi as per the rituals. The fast of Nirjala Ekadashi will be broken on 26th June.
Auspicious time to break Nirjala Ekadashi fast (Nirjala Ekadashi 2026 (Vrat Paran Shubh Muhurat)
It is mentioned in the scriptures that the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi is always observed on the Dwadashi date. In such a situation, according to Drik Panchang, this year the auspicious time for breaking the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi will start at 05.25 am. This auspicious time will last till 08:13. Devotees can break the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi at this time. Dwadashi Tithi will end on 26th June at 10.22 pm.
Method of breaking Nirjala Ekadashi fast (Nirjala Ekadashi Vrat Paran Vidhi)
To break the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi, first of all take bath etc. on Dwadashi date. Then wear clean clothes. After this, perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu in the puja room. Do Abhishek of Ganga water along with Panchamrit of God. Now offer yellow sandalwood and yellow flowers to God. Light a ghee lamp in front of God. Chant the mantra Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya. Perform Aarti of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu and Lakshmi ji and offer Tulsi to the Lord. In the end, complete the fast and pray for forgiveness.
Keep these things in mind while breaking the fast
Break the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi only before the end of Dwadashi Tithi and after sunrise. While observing this fast, definitely keep in mind Hari Vasar. Do not break the fast of Nirjala Ekadashi in Hari Vasar. Wait for it to finish.
