News9 Talk on solar energy in Global Summit, ‘Green Steel’ will change the situation of infrastructure

TV9 News Network’s News9 Global Summit is going on in Stuttgart, Germany. On the second day of the summit, RK Goyal, Director of Sarloha Advanced Materials and Ajay Mathur, DG of International Solar Alliance (ISA) also participated. Goyal spoke on sustainable development and green steel. He said that the temperature may increase by 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2040. Glaciers are melting, and the world is not taking as strong action as it should.

According to Goyal, a better environment is not limited only to those countries which are working on saving it, but it is the responsibility of every citizen and business to contribute in saving the environment. He told how green steel can contribute to infrastructure development.

Why is green steel important?

RK Goyal is also the MD of Kalyani Steel. His company manufactures green steel. Green steel is steel which is produced through sustainable and environment friendly methods. This reduces the carbon footprint and also has less impact on the climate.

Goyal told that they manufacture high clean steel, and supply steel to sectors like defence, aerospace, railways. There is more demand for green steel in the automobile sector, but there is a lot of need for green steel in these sectors also.

Will benefit from solar energy

Ajay Mathur, DG of International Solar Alliance (ISA) also expressed his views on solar energy. He said that the wind machine was designed in Germany 20 years ago, and manufactured in India. These machines have been exported.

This is the most brilliant example of technology being designed in one country and produced using the workforce of another country. Then it was exported all over the world.

The cost of electricity is increasing in Germany, but if we look at the per capita growth, it is not that much. In Germany, electricity can be obtained from solar energy during the day. It is difficult to use solar energy at night.

Battery is necessary for solar energy

Similarly, in India you can use solar panels during the day. But when demand increases at night, you will have to resort to some other option.

The solution to this big problem in adopting solar energy is battery. Through batteries we can store electricity and use it as per need.
