New Skoda Rival To Tata Nexon Coming Soon?

Not long ago, Skoda unveiled two all-new SUVs internationally: the Epiq and Peaq. The two models sit at opposite ends of the spectrum: the Epiq is the most affordable entry point to Skoda’s electric SUV range, while the Peaq is its flagship. Skoda has confirmed the Peaq will launch in India in the second half of next year. But what about the Epiq? Will Skoda bring this worthy Tata Nexon rival to India? Here’s what we know.

Skoda’s Tata Nexon Rival Becomes Sportier

The Epiq is set to get a Sportline trim to enhance its looks and add a sporty flair. This trim is expected to bring in cosmetic changes to make the Epiq look more aggressive and sportier. But based on other Skoda Sportline models, expect the Epiq Sportline to get blacked-out elements, contrasting red stitching, and a dark-themed dashboard for a sportier look.

More About The Skoda Epiq

The Epiq is Skoda’s first entry in the electric sub-compact SUV space, and it comes in three variants: 35, 40, and 55. It offers two battery packs: 38.5 kWh and 55 kWh. The smaller battery is used in the lower 35 and 40 variants; the larger 55 kWh battery is used in the higher 55 variant. They send all power to the front-mounted motors.

The Epiq 35 makes 116 bhp, while the 40 makes 135 bhp; both variants offer the same range of 310 kilometres on a single charge and produce the same torque of 267 Nm. The 55 variant makes 211 bhp and 290 Nm of torque and offers a range of 440 kilometres.

Is It Coming To India?

We know Skoda is bringing its flagship 3-row SUV, the Peaq, to India. The Peaq offers up to 600 km of range with an 86 kWh battery and also comes with a smaller 59 kWh battery. However, there is no official confirmation of the arrival of the Epiq in India yet – but looking at the Epiq’s dimensions and equipment list, we do hope it’s launched here.
