The upcoming Maruti micro-SUV hasn’t been spotted yet, and no information has been revealed about it. However, we expect this Maruti SUV to have a tall-boy design like its rival, the Tata Punch. The tall-boy design used in the WagonR has already worked for Maruti, and applying the same formula to this new micro-SUV could be another game-changer.
Features & Powertrain
Speaking about the interiors, we expect this Maruti SUV to boast a good suite of features. This could include a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen from the Brezza, an analogue driver’s display, a single-pane sunroof, a wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera, six airbags (standard), and more. More details about the Y43’s interior will be revealed once the model is spotted testing.
Under the hood, we expect this new Maruti SUV to be equipped with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine from the Fronx and the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine from the Dzire and the Swift. As this is a Maruti product, we could also expect it to come with a CNG kit paired with the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine.
Moreover, we already know that Maruti is working on introducing series hybrid tech, paired with the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine. So, this upcoming Maruti SUV could also benefit from it. Transmission duties are expected to be handled by manual and automatic gearboxes.
Expected Launch & Pricing
Maruti has not yet revealed any specific launch timeline for this SUV. We expect this new SUV to be launched by the end of 2027. Once launched, it will compete with the Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter, and other micro SUVs. In terms of pricing, we expect this Maruti SUV to undercut its rivals. That said, it could be priced between Rs. 6.5 lakh and Rs. 11 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
