NEET UG 2026 Re Exam Date: The country’s biggest medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2026 has now become not just an exam but a battle of trust. Amidst the alleged paper leak issue which is affecting the future of lakhs of students, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has now announced the date of re-examination. After the cancellation of the examination held on May 3, NEET-UG 2026 re-exam will now be conducted on Sunday, June 21. But the biggest question in this entire controversy is, was the paper leaked from within the examination system considered to be the most secure in the country? The CBI investigation is now moving rapidly in this direction.
Why was NEET UG exam 2026 of May 3 cancelled?
The controversy over NEET-UG 2026 began when investigating agencies found an alleged “guess paper” that was shared among students several days before the exam. Investigation revealed that this document contained around 410 questions and a large number of these questions matched the original NEET paper. The most shocking thing was that about 120 chemistry questions were allegedly matching exactly. According to sources, this material was circulated through WhatsApp groups about 42 hours before the exam. After this, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police started investigation and the matter quickly reached the national level. NTA later said that based on the inputs received from law enforcement agencies and investigation reports, it was not possible to continue with the exam, hence the decision was taken to cancel it.
Now the re-examination of NEET UG 2026 will be held on June 21.
NTA has made it clear that the re-exam will be conducted on Sunday, June 21. Soon the new admit card and information related to examination centers will be released on the official website. However, there is still confusion between students and parents. They want to know whether the syllabus will remain the same? Will the exam pattern change? Will the centers be allotted again? Will the security arrangements be more strict than before? The agency has currently announced only the exam date, while detailed guidelines are awaited.
NEET UG 2026: ‘Insider angle’ biggest focus in CBI investigation
Now the biggest twist in this matter has come regarding “insider role”. CBI is trying to find out whether the question paper was leaked from within the system even before the exam. The investigating agency has sought information from NTA about all those who had access to the question paper. These include paper setters, subject experts, translation panel members, professors and teachers, people involved in the printing and sealing process. CBI believes that matching of questions on such a large scale cannot be a matter of coaching test series only.
NEET UG 2026: Latur of Maharashtra becomes the new center of investigation.
Latur in Maharashtra, which is considered a medical coaching hub, is now on the radar of investigating agencies. A retired chemistry professor, who was allegedly associated with the Marathi translation panel of NEET, is being questioned. Investigating agencies suspect that access to the paper may have been misused during the translation process. Meanwhile, a parent claimed that 42 questions asked in the mock test of a private coaching institute in Latur were similar to the real NEET paper. This is the reason why the investigation has now moved towards the entire network, not just the paper leak.
NEET UG 2026: Beauty parlor operator arrested from Pune, investigation into money network
CBI has arrested a woman named Manisha Waghmare from Pune, who runs a beauty parlor. The agency alleges that she was playing the role of a middleman in the paper leak network. Investigation revealed that before the examination, money was transferred in about two dozen of his bank accounts. The agency is now trying to find out whether this money was taken from students or was part of some big racket.
Rajasthan Connection of NEET UG 2026: Paper shared after digital scanning?
According to Rajasthan investigating agencies, accused Dinesh Biwal allegedly scanned the leaked question paper and sent it forward in digital form. He is accused of getting this paper from accused Yash Yadav of Gurugram and then delivered it to the students in Sikar area of Rajasthan. This means that now the investigation is not limited to just “paper leaks”, but it has moved towards organized digital networks and financial chains.
NEET UG 2026: Anger among students, demonstration on streets
After the cancellation of the exams, students and student organizations staged protests in many cities. Many organizations including the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) raised questions on the functioning of NTA. Students say that preparing for an exam takes years of hard work and such incidents increase the mental pressure manifold.
