A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court to cancel the re-examination of NEET. 1467 students have demanded to postpone the examination by 1 month. To stop paper leaks, the Center has imposed a temporary ban on Telegram till June 22.
New Delhi: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court to cancel the re-examination of NEET. This petition has been filed by Dr. Mangala Kohli, in which a demand has been made to cancel the decision to conduct the examination again. It has been argued in the petition that it is illegal to cancel the entire examination conducted at the national level due to irregularities at some places.
It has been said in the petition that the paper leak has happened only at a few centers in the country, hence the examination should be canceled only in those centers where the irregularities took place. The petitioner demands that both the notification canceling the first examination and the notification re-conducting the examination should be cancelled. The Supreme Court can hear this petition today. Let us tell you that after allegations of paper leak were made in the examination held on 3rd May, it was canceled and the decision was taken to conduct the examination again on 21st June.
Memorandum to postpone the exam
Meanwhile, students have also come forward demanding postponement of the re-examination. 1467 students have submitted a memorandum to the National Testing Agency (NTA) regarding this demand. The students are demanding that the re-examination be postponed for at least a month. Students complain that the exam date was announced suddenly, due to which they did not get enough time to prepare. This memorandum has been submitted to NTA through lawyer Vineet Jindal. At the same time, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan has instructed the states to conduct the examination in a peaceful manner. He has appealed for full cooperation from the states in providing security for the re-examination.
Temporary ban on Telegram
On the other hand, before the re-examination of NEET, the Central Government has taken a big step. The government has temporarily banned Telegram in India. Access to Telegram has been limited till June 22. This step has been taken to prevent paper leaks and fraud. Apart from this, the feature of editing messages has also been stopped in India till June 30. Many Telegram channels and bots have also been removed.
Investigations are going on in different states in the paper leak case. Many channels running in the name of ‘NEET Paper Leak’ have been closed. At the same time, NTA has made it clear that the promise of providing the paper is completely a fraud.
