A youth from Bihar’s Kishanganj claimed that he has been in Russia for four months, yet his name was included in the FIR for NEET protests. Police have said they will investigate.
A video related to Kishanganj district of Bihar is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In the video, a young man is claiming that he has been living in Russia for the last 4 months, but despite this he has been made an accused in the case of NEET paper leak protests that took place last week. However, this viral video has not been independently confirmed.
What did the young man claim in the video?
In the viral video, the young man who identified himself as Mohammad Sadakat, a resident of Ward No. 12 of Kishanganj city, said that on July 24, there was a protest against the NEET paper leak at LRP Chowk. He alleges that the Bahadurganj administration included his name in the case related to that protest, even though he has been living in Russia for the last four months. In the video, the young man says, “On July 24, there was a protest against the NEET paper leak at LRP Chowk and the Bahadurganj administration has added my name to it. I have been in Russia for the last four months.” He appealed to the administration to remove his name from the case. He said, “I am in Russia, so I request the administration to remove my name from there. I will be grateful to the administration for this.”

Viral video could not be verified
This video is being shared rapidly on many social media platforms. However, PTI has clarified in its report that it does not independently verify this video and the claims made in it. Some users on social media also commented on the identity of the young man and raised questions whether his name was included in the case without a thorough investigation.
What did the police say?
When PTI contacted Kishanganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Hari Mohan Shukla on this issue, he neither confirmed nor denied whether a case has been registered against the youth. When asked about the viral video, the SP said, “People with any grievance related to the protests can contact the police for resolution.”

NEET protests and decision to withdraw FIR
Meanwhile, the Bihar government has announced that all cases registered against students protesting against the NEET paper leak will be withdrawn. The government’s decision came after the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), the Congress-led opposition at the Center and student organizations like AISA demanded withdrawal of the cases registered against the protesters.
What was said in the notification of the Home Department?
A notification issued by the state home department said that the government is withdrawing all FIRs, complaints and show-cause notices issued in connection with incidents that occurred before 6 am on July 26. The government also said that those arrested in these cases will be released immediately.
694 people were taken into custody
Last week, police had detained a total of 694 people while acting during the statewide bandh called to protest against the NEET paper leak. According to the report, about half of those detained included minors. After the recent decision of the government, the process of withdrawing these cases is being started.
