Congress’s protest in the NEET paper leak case has got the support of TMC and DMK. Opposition parties have demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and an investigation into the matter. At the same time, BJP has called this demonstration as ‘drama’.
Opposition supported Congress’s protest
New Delhi [भारत]July 22 (ANI): Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy on Wednesday extended his support to the Congress protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence led by Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. In this demonstration, there was a demand for investigation into the alleged NEET paper leak and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
On the Congress protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg on Tuesday, Saugata Roy said, “I give my full support. There must be an inquiry into the NEET paper leak and resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Congress is the main opposition party and we support them. BJP is a fascist party and would not want any protests to take place.”
‘BJP is not giving space to the opposition to speak’
AITC MLA Humayun Kabir, while speaking to ANI about the Congress protest outside the Prime Minister’s residence, said, “They (BJP) are not giving any space or way to the opposition. This is not right. In a democratic country, everyone should be given a chance to express their views. They should be given space to speak their mind…”
Additionally, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP A Raja also supported the protest, saying, “Everyone has the right to fight.”
BJP called the protest a ‘gimmick’
Meanwhile, Rajasthan BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Madan Rathore criticized the Congress’ protest, calling it an act of desperation by Rahul Gandhi. He accused the opposition of doing “gimmicks” to remain in the headlines. Rathore said, “I think this is the height of frustration. Rahul Gandhi has no issue and is just making gimmicks, grabbing headlines. I don’t think any opposition party has ever tried to do this… We will also protest. We will protest at various Congress offices across India today.”
Responding to AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s statement, Rathore said, “The opposition has no ideas, and they have formed India Bloc by bringing together people with different views, so they will blame each other and do drama…”
The opposition’s comments come a day after the Congress protested outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Complex 7, Lok Kalyan Marg demanding action on the alleged NEET paper leak and resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Opposition MPs protested against the government in the Parliament complex by wearing black clothes. Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Priyanka Gandhi and others were present in this protest. (ANI)
