Baba Neem Karauli was born in Akbarpur village of Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh. His real name was Laxman Narayan Sharma. Since childhood, he was inclined towards spirituality and spiritual practice. It is said that at an early age, he distanced himself from worldly attachments and adopted the spiritual path. With time, he started becoming known among the people as a proven saint and then people from all over the country and the world started coming to see him.

A famous story related to the name of Baba Neem Karauli remains a topic of discussion among people even today. According to Manyata, once he was traveling in a train without a ticket. During ticket checking, railway employees removed him from the train. This incident took place near the then Neem Karauli railway station. It is said that after Baba got down from the train, the train stopped. When the train did not run despite many efforts, people requested Baba to call him back. As soon as Baba boarded the train again, the train started. After this incident, his fame spread among the local people and people started calling him Neem Karauli Baba after the name of that place. Gradually this name became famous all over the world.
