Naxalites attacked policemen in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, snatched weapons and ran away

Naxalites carried out a major incident on Sunday in Naxal-affected Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Naxalites in plain clothes attacked two policemen with sharp weapons in the weekly market in Jagargunda village of Jahan. Both policemen were injured in the Naxalite attack. After this the Naxalites took his official rifle and fled from the spot.

According to PTI report, there was chaos in the weekly market after the Naxal attack. After receiving information about the incident, the police team reached the spot and took the injured soldiers to the hospital. According to officials, policemen were deployed there in view of the weekly market.

Police constable late on duty attacked with sharp weapon

The police officer said that an action team of Naxalites (which usually consists of four-five cadres) suddenly attacked constables Karatam Deva and Sodhi Kanna with sharp weapons and then looted their rifles and ran away. Other security personnel deployed there immediately swung into action and started searching for the attackers. The deployment of police forces has also been increased at the incident site. Apart from this, checking is being done at various places so that Naxalites can be found out.

Both the constables injured in the Naxalite attack were first admitted to the local hospital, but later they were referred to Raipur. At present, both the policemen are undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Raipur. Both the police constables injured in the attack are posted at Jagargunda police station.

31 Naxalites were killed in Bastar

There are seven districts including Sukma in Bastar division. In Bastar division, Naxalites have targeted security personnel in weekly markets several times in the past. A few weeks ago, a major operation was conducted against Naxalites in Bastar itself in which 31 Naxalites were killed.
