Gorakhpur Dowry Case: A woman from Gorakhpur has accused her husband of maintaining distance for two years, not giving sperm sample, demanding Rs 5 lakh in the name of treatment and dowry harassment. An FIR has been registered against five people including the husband in Gorakhnath police station.
Gorakhpur News: The disputes that arise regarding the relationship between husband and wife after marriage are often limited to the personal realm, but when the matter reaches to dowry, domestic violence and alleged harassment, it takes legal form. A 30-year-old woman from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh has made similar serious allegations against her husband and in-laws. The woman says that the husband did not have marital relations for two years of marriage, maintained distance on the pretext of treatment and later demanded Rs 5 lakh in the name of treatment. Based on the complaint, the police have registered an FIR and started investigation.
Husband maintained distance for two years, doctor asked for sperm sample
According to the victim, she was married to a youth resident of Mahanagar police station area of Lucknow on 19 November 2021. The woman alleges that her husband kept a distance from her since the first day of their marriage. When asked, he used to say that he is undergoing medicine course and after completion everything will become normal. Similarly, about two years passed, but the husband did not establish marital relations.
The woman says that when she asked the family to get proper treatment for her husband, she was abused and when she protested, she was even beaten. Later, on the advice of her parents, the husband was taken to a private hospital in Lucknow, where the doctor asked for a sperm sample for testing. It is alleged that the husband could not give the sample despite many efforts and left the hospital citing nervousness.

Allegation of demanding Rs 5 lakh in the name of treatment
The woman has said in the complaint that her in-laws pressured her brother and father to bring Rs 5 lakh for the treatment. It is alleged that the brother-in-law threatened to kill him if the money was not received. Due to public shame, she continued to bear all this for a long time, which affected her mental and physical condition.
The victim also told that during her brother’s marriage in May 2025, she was sent alone to Gorakhpur. The in-laws promised to come to the wedding, but no one arrived. After this, for the first time she informed her family about her husband’s alleged illness and the entire incident.
Thrown out of house after fight, FIR against five people
The woman alleges that on June 19, 2026, when her mother, brother and sisters reached her in-laws’ house in Lucknow and started talking about family life, her husband, mother-in-law and other family members beat them up. After this the woman was also thrown out of the house and was allegedly threatened with being implicated in a false case.
According to Gorakhnath police station in-charge Vijay Pratap Singh, based on the woman’s complaint, an FIR has been registered against five people including husband, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law under dowry harassment and other related sections. Police say that the matter is being investigated and further legal action will be taken based on the investigation.
