New Delhi: Muthoot Fincorp has secured the title sponsorship rights for for the next two seasons. According to a Cricbuzz report, the title sponsorship is referred to as ‘Blue Muthoot’ and has been negotiated at a base price of Rs 4.85 crore per match.
The final price of the deal reportedly could be lower than the base price, although the exact figure is expected to be known after the makes an official announcement. The announcement of the new title sponsor was delayed after a lack of serious bidders for the rights.
According to Cricbuzz industry sources, the high base price was one of the primary reasons for the lack of interest in the title sponsorship. IDFC First Bank, the outgoing title sponsor, had been paying RS 4.2 crore per match.
The BCCI’s Invitation to Tender (ITT) had a specific deadline of August 13 for selecting the title sponsor through a competitive bidding process. However, with no bids coming in, the board entered into direct negotiations with potential sponsors. Google Gemini, IDFC First Bank, Spinny and SBI Life were among the companies reportedly approached by the BCCI.
SBI Life eventually joined as an Associate Partner of the BCCI, alongside Campa and ChatGPT. The three companies have signed agreements for a two-season period, beginning with India’s home series against the West Indies and running through March 2028.
Muthoot Fincorp deal to cover 35 India home internationals over two seasons
Muthoot Fincorp is owned by the Kochi-based Muthoot family and will hold the title sponsorship rights for all international and domestic matches played in India until March 31, 2028. The agreement will cover around 35 home internationals during the period, including 10 Tests, 12 ODI matches and 13 T20I games.
The partnership will begin immediately and will be reflected in the ODI series against the West Indies, starting on September 27. The first match of the series will be played in Muthoot’s home state of Kerala,
