
There is a stress against the amended Waqf Act in Murshidabad and the tension arising out after that. On the order of the Calcutta High Court, central forces have been deployed in many areas of the district since Saturday night. The police is also visiting the villages. Many people were arrested in the search operation which lasted overnight. Meanwhile, there has been a demand to install AFSPA in four disturbed districts including Murshidabad.
BJP MP from Purulia Jyotirmaya Singh Mahato wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding to install AFSPA in Bengal. He posted on the X handle and wrote that there is bleeding of Hindus in the state.
He said that Murshidabad, Malda, Nadia, South 24 Parganas – Hindus were attacked, houses were looted. Law and order has failed due to appeasement of TMC. Like Kashmiri Pandits, Bengali Hindus are also being hunted. He demanded from the Union Home Minister that under Section 3 of the 1958 Act, offsa should be made.
Central force route march in sensitive areas
On the other hand, the central forces and the state police have decided to conduct a joint route march in sensitive areas of Murshidabad since Sunday morning. There is a plan to organize a peace meeting with all the organizations. More than 150 arrests have been made in Murshidabad so far.

Central forces have been deployed in a total of nine sensitive areas of Shamserganj and cotton. Due to the possibility of unrest, additional force was also brought at night and members of the central forces spoke to the families of the victims. The attempt to assure them was also the local police along with the Kiya force. Police and central force jointly conducted a route march in unrest affected areas.
Top officers of Murshidabad District Police visited the villages. He has been asked to talk to the temple committee, various local clubs and the people of the village to remain calm and not to leave the village. The entire district has been taken under security.
Panic in the area due to attack
On Sunday morning, ‘Anti-Waqf Ekta Manch’ organized two separate protest programs in the Soti police station area. These programs declared earlier have been canceled at the moment.
State Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar reached Murshidabad on Saturday evening. He held a meeting with district officials. There was also a meeting with BSF. Five more companies of central forces are coming to Murshidabad from Jharkhand.
There is an atmosphere of panic in the area due to the possibility of unrest. Local Trinamool MLA Moirul Islam has accused his home of sabotage. He said, “My house has been vandalized. On fire has been set in front of the house. My family members have taken refuge elsewhere due to fear. But whatever happens, I will be alone at home.
