Murshidabad violence: 3 people died, paramilitary deployed, learn 10 big updates so far

Three people, including father and son, died in violent clashes related to the ongoing protest against the Waqf Bill in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, after which West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Saturday that the bill would not be implemented in the state. At the same time, in the midst of increasing unrest in areas like Sati and Shamsherganj, the Calcutta High Court, while hearing the petition of Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari, ordered the deployment of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in the affected areas.

A division bench headed by Justice Saumen Sen said that when such situations arise, the court cannot remain closed and emphasized the need to provide adequate protection to the common people. The court also directed the Center and the state to submit a detailed report on the situation before the next hearing on 17 April.

  1. But if an attempt is made to take out Hindus from some areas of Murshidabad, where Muslims are majority, Hindus of Bengal will protest to save their dignity, respect and identity. Reversing this, Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee said that the opposition is trying to spoil communal harmony for political gains.
