Mumbai Shocker: Uber Black Driver Falls Asleep, Drags Biker 500 Metres Under SUV In Mira Road | Video

Ashocking road accident on Mumbai’s Mira Road has raised serious concerns over driver fatigue after an Uber Black car allegedly rammed into a motorcycle and dragged both the bike and its rider for nearly 500 metres.

As per a report in NDTV, investigations by the police confirmed that the vehicle’s driver and alleged culprit, Adil Taslim Ansari, had dozed off as he suffered from acute sleep deprivation, and subsequently lost control of the vehicle. Investigations during a medical examination also disproved claims that Ansari drove the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

The incident was captured in a video, wherein the Toyota Highlander with the MH 01 FE 5919 registration number could be seen being driven around with the motorcycle stuck under its front-left wheel. Witnesses reportedly shouted at the driver to stop, but the SUV reportedly continued for almost half a kilometre before finally halting. Authorities said the driver then allegedly attempted to flee the spot.

The luxury car involved was being used for Uber’s premium “Uber Black” service. The service includes “top rated drivers,” according to the Uber website.

A motorcyclist was badly hurt in an accident, and he is currently being treated in a hospital.

Police responded swiftly after receiving information about the accident, arresting the driver within two hours. Police have seized the vehicle, and an investigation is being conducted into the crash, including circumstances of possible negligence and other offences.
