Mumbai: Man Spends 6 Hours Commuting Daily, Says ‘Home Is Just For Sleep’

A young man’s Reddit post about his daily 6-hour travel for work is going viral. He travels from Badlapur to Goregaon in Maharashtra and says he only gets home late at night just to sleep.

A young man’s post about his incredibly long daily commute for work has struck a chord with many online. He spends almost as much time travelling as he does working. The man travels for about six and a half hours every day from Badlapur to Goregaon in Maharashtra just to get to his job. He shared his exhausting routine on Reddit.

His day starts at 5 in the morning. He says he leaves home by 6:30 AM to catch the 7:15 AM local train from Badlapur station. From there, he has to change trains at Dadar to get on the Western Line for Goregaon. After reaching, he waits in an auto-rickshaw queue for another 30 minutes before finally getting to his office. By the time he clocks in, it’s already 10 AM.

So, why not move closer to the office? He explained that it’s not that simple. He tried looking for a PG near his workplace, but the rents were way too high. The cheaper options, he found, were completely unhygienic. With a monthly salary of just ₹35,000, he says he simply can’t afford to rent a place there. Many people commented on his post, with several advising him to look for a PG or a hostel to cut down on the exhausting daily travel.
