Mr and Mrs Mahi Review: The craze for cricket and Bollywood in India is of a completely different level. The matter is such that if you ask a child what he wants to become when he grows up, his answer will be either a cricketer or an actor. Crores of people in India nurture these dreams. But it is not necessary that all dreams come true. But it cannot be said when whose dream will come true. Cricket is considered a religion in India. And some cricketers are no less than God in the eyes of fans. There was a time of Sachin when he was called God. Then came the time of Mahi. Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He was also considered a miracle in the world of cricket. Mahi is also the title of this film. And Rajkumar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor’s film Mr. and Mrs. Mahi is made on this title. So let us know how this film is and how different it is from other films made on cricket.
What is the story?
The story of the film is about a couple named Mahima and Mahendra whose relationship is older than cricket. Mahendra has also played cricket in his time and Mahima also knows how to play cricket well. But now things are old. Time and environment suppressed this hobby of both and both moved forward in their lives. They had an arranged marriage. Now the film starts from here. Mahendra’s father has a big shop of sports equipment. He sits at his father’s shop. And listens to his taunts. He has a younger brother who is a star. He has earned a name for himself. The father also gives importance to the younger son. This thing bothers Mahendra. In such a situation, he takes a big decision at a difficult stage of his life and turns towards cricket again. But now things have changed. Time has moved forward. The environment has changed. In such a situation, how will Mahendra face this challenge and how much support will he get from his wife Mahima, this is what the film is about.
How is the acting?
Rajkumar Rao has played his role very well in the film and Janhvi has also accepted this challenge well. After Gunjan Saxena biopic and Good Luck Jerry, Janhvi Kapoor’s good acting has been seen in this film. Apart from this, Kumud Mishra’s role is also good in the film, who has appeared in the role of Rajkumar Rao’s character Mahendra’s father. The rest of the film does not have a very big cast and most of the length has been given to the characters of Rajkumar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor.
Where did it go wrong?
There are many shortcomings in the film. First of all, many films have already been made on cricket. In such a situation, there will be no newness in the film. Every cricket story is like this. Romance has been added to make it a little spicy but that too seems unnecessary at some places. Rajkumar Rao’s character in the film has been shown to be quite confusing. He seems to be entangled in his ambitions. But the aspiration that was suppressed in his mind or say that it had died, needed a big push to wake up again. But that big push is missing from the story of the film. In such a situation, this film seems irritating at some places. And it seems that it has been made just by looking at the current environment of cricket.
Casting is very important for any film to be a success. A big mistake was made in the casting of this film. No character was kept that could create the atmosphere. To create the atmosphere, a funny character sometimes brings life to a dull story. Also, the audience who have gone to watch the film also have fun. But this was not seen. This work was done to some extent by the dialogues of the film. Apart from this, such stories are always predictable. And many films have been made on this track. This is the reason that at times you may get distracted from this film.
See whether or not
Although cricket fans, Janhvi Kapoor fans and Rajkumar Rao fans will be at the forefront of people watching this film. But cricket fans may be disappointed after watching this film. This film can be watched once for Janhvi’s acting, apart from this, Rajkumar Rao has performed well according to his role. But there is nothing in the film that the audience would yearn to watch. If the purpose was to promote women’s cricket, then they could have made a biopic of a female cricketer. Maybe that would have been better.
