Bhopal. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh has set a new record in the field of wheat procurement this year. More than 104 lakh 22 thousand metric tonnes of wheat was purchased in the state against the target of 100 lakh metric tonnes. This achievement reflects the agricultural system of the state and its effective management in the interest of farmers.
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput said that earlier the state was given a target of purchasing 78 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, but after the efforts of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the central government increased it to 100 lakh metric tonnes. The state crossed this revised target and created a new record.
MSP Wheat Procurement: Purchased from more than 13 lakh farmers
The state government has purchased wheat from 13 lakh 41 thousand 266 farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP). With this achievement, Madhya Pradesh has become the number-1 state in the country to purchase wheat from farmers. In terms of total wheat procurement, the state has reached second place after Punjab. Barring the Covid-19 period, this is considered to be the biggest record of wheat procurement at support price in the last 10 years.
Small Farmers Benefit: Small and marginal farmers got priority benefit
The state government gave priority to small and marginal farmers in the procurement process. More than 32 lakh 14 thousand metric tonnes of wheat was purchased from 8 lakh 9 thousand 990 small and marginal farmers of the state. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav himself conducted surprise inspection of many procurement centers. He reviewed the weighing system, availability of gunny bags and facilities being provided to the farmers. Along with this, after talking to the farmers, they also got information about payment and purchase arrangements.
Wheat Procurement Payment: Payment of more than Rs 23 thousand crore to farmers
The state government has so far paid more than Rs 23,708.13 crore to the farmers for the purchased wheat. Out of the purchased wheat, transportation of 96 lakh 52 thousand 957 metric tons of wheat has also been completed, which is about 93 percent of the total procurement. This year wheat was purchased from farmers at the support price of Rs 2585 per quintal. Apart from this, the state government also gave a bonus of Rs 40 per quintal. In this way the farmers got a total rate of Rs 2625 per quintal.

Wheat procurement figures have also been revealed in various divisions of the state. Bhopal division remained at the forefront, where 28 lakh 47 thousand 284 metric tonnes of wheat was purchased.

- Jabalpur division: 12 lakh 73 thousand 667 metric tons
- Shahdol division: 70 thousand 666 metric tons
- Sagar Division: 8 lakh 56 thousand 968 metric tons
- Bhopal division: 28 lakh 47 thousand 284 metric tons
- Narmadapuram division: 9 lakh 22 thousand 508 metric tons
- Ujjain division: 22 lakh 84 thousand 47 metric tons
- Indore division: 8 lakh 62 thousand 719 metric tons
- Gwalior Division: 4 lakh 36 thousand 805 metric tons
- Chambal division: 2 lakh 40 thousand 581 metric tons
Wheat Procurement Facilities: Better arrangements for farmers at procurement centers
The government made many arrangements for the convenience of farmers at wheat procurement centres. The number of weighing scales at each center was increased from 4 to 6. Districts were given the right to install additional weighing scales if needed. The time for issuing weighing slips was extended from 6 pm to 10 pm. The process of issuing bills also continued till 12 midnight. Procurement work was conducted 6 days a week.
Drinking water, shady seating arrangements and other necessary facilities were made available to the farmers at the centres. Apart from this, arrangements like gunny bags, weighing scales, hammaal, sewing machines, computers, quality checking equipment, fans and filters were also ensured so that there is no problem in the procurement process.
