Amid escalating oil costs, a number of locals hurried to the scene with buckets, cans, and other containers after seeing the ongoing spill from the overturned truck. They apparently made an effort to gather and transport the oil that had spilt.
Police officers are seen seizing control of the area and preventing locals from gathering the oil in a video of the incident that has gone viral on social media.
In the video, the oil can be seen continuously flowing from the tanker while residents make constant efforts to collect it. The video also shows police dispersing the crowd from the spot. Due to the massive amount of refined oil that spilt into the road, the accident resulted in substantial financial damage. Before authorities managed to contain the situation, neighbours scrambled to gather the spilling oil, which further caused confusion.
