MP: Drug supplier held with brown sugar, marijuana, Rs 19 lakh cash

Arrest Follows Interrogation of Another Accused

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Sunil Mehta said the accused identified as Chetan Nath, was arrested near Rajwada in the district on Sunday evening, following the interrogation of another accused, Lucky Nath, who was apprehended on June 22 with brown sugar. “The case pertains to Dwarkapuri Police Station. A person named Lucky Nath was arrested with brown sugar on June 22. During interrogation, he revealed the name of Chetan Nath from whom he received narcotics. Following which, Chetan was being searched and arrested yesterday evening. When he was interrogated and searched, 265 grams of brown sugar, around 8 kg of Marijuana, Rs 19 lakh in cash and 22 live pistol cartridges were recovered from him,” Mehta told ANI.

Investigation into Supply Chain and Weapon Source

The officer added that the pistol was not traced so far, only cartridges were seized. The accused was being questioned further to ascertain where he procured the weapon and the cartridges from. “Along with this, a currency counting machine was also seized from his possession. The accused is being interrogated to ascertain the source of the narcotics, the network involved in the supply chain, and the identities of those to whom the drugs were allegedly supplied,” DCP Mehta said.

Further investigation into the case is underway, he added. (ANI)
