Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that efforts to make Madhya Pradesh the milk capital are succeeding. Milk production and sales of Sanchi brand have increased in the state. Rs 1609 crore has been paid to farmers and new dairy schemes are being taken forward rapidly.
Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said in the review meeting of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department on May 21 that the efforts being made towards making Madhya Pradesh the “Milk Capital” of the country are now giving positive results. He said that the state is progressing rapidly in the field of increasing milk production and is ready to achieve great achievements in the coming times.
It was informed in the meeting that on an average 9.67 lakh kilograms of milk is being collected in the state every day, which is 11 percent more than last year. In the last six months, more than 11 lakh kilograms of milk collection has been recorded every day. The Chief Minister directed that coordinated efforts should be continued to continuously increase this achievement.
Detailed review of dairy schemes and animal husbandry programs conducted
In the review meeting, the Chief Minister took information about the progress of various schemes and programs run in the state. These included subjects like Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana, Acharya Vidyasagar Gausamvardhan Yojana, Chief Minister Dairy Plus Programme, Kshirdhara Gram Yojana, animal health services, fodder production, animal nutrition and establishment of self-supporting cow shelters.
Apart from this, the cooperation being provided by Breeder Association, Dudh Samriddhi Sampark Abhiyaan, State Cooperative Milk Federation and National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) was also discussed in detail. Minister of State for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development (Independent Charge) Lakhan Patel, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
Madhya Pradesh ranks third in milk production in the country
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that at present Madhya Pradesh is at third place in the country in terms of milk production and the government’s aim is to take the state to the first place. He said that the efforts started in this direction are continuously becoming successful. So far, 1752 new milk cooperative societies have been formed in the state. Along with this, important works like modernization of Gwalior Dairy Plant, revival of Shivpuri Dairy Plant and opening of 3 lakh liter per day milk powder plant in Indore have been done. The Chief Minister said that these initiatives have helped in making the state a leader in the field of milk production and marketing and this campaign will continue in future also.
Payment of Rs 1609 crore to milk producing farmers
It was informed in the meeting that due to the efforts made under the guidance of National Dairy Development Board, Rs 1609 crore was paid to milk producing farmers in the year 2025-26. Last year this amount was Rs 1398 crore. In this way, there has been an increase of about 15 percent in the payments made to farmers.
Due to the implementation of time bound payment system by the government, the milk purchase price in various milk unions has increased from Rs 2.50 to Rs 8.50 per liter. Due to this, the income of farmers has improved and positive changes are also being seen in their standard of living.
Increase in sales and popularity of Sanchi brand
It was also informed in the meeting that the efforts made by the state government to strengthen the Sanchi brand have been successful. Due to marketing and branding strategies, Sanchi has recorded an increase in sales of various products.
Especially the sales of ghee have increased by 17 percent. Apart from this, demand for products like cheese, curd, buttermilk and flavored milk has also increased. Special attention has also been paid to better packaging and modern branding, which has increased the popularity of the Sanchi brand among consumers.
