MP: Congress votes same as 2018, still why not victory?

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a comeback in Madhya Pradesh with a huge majority. The reason behind this victory of BJP is being said to be the blessings of the beloved sisters, but you will be surprised to know that Congress has got the same number of votes in 2023 as it got in 2018, but the number of seats has come down from 114 to 64. Has gone. Let us know why Congress did not get power in the state even after getting votes like in 2018.

First let’s talk about the 2018 assembly elections. In this election, Congress got 40.89 percent votes and the number of seats increased from 58 to 114. Whereas BJP had got 41.02 percent more votes than Congress, but its seats had reduced from 165 to 109. BJP had got more votes, yet the seats had decreased. Due to this, Shivraj government was out of power. However, after the resignation of the MLAs in 2021, BJP returned to power.

Increase in BJP’s vote percentage

Now let’s talk about the figures for 2023. In this election also, Congress has got 40.45 percent votes, but there has been a big decline in its number of seats. Compared to 2018, Congress’s strength has come down from 114 to around 60. The reason for such a huge decline in Congress seats is the increase of about 7.50 percent in BJP votes. BJP has got 48.69 percent votes in this election. Because of this its seats have increased from 109 to 166.

Dear sisters spoiled the game of Congress

The biggest reason for increase in vote percentage for BJP is being said to be Ladli Brahmin Yojana. Initially, under this scheme, women of MP were getting one thousand rupees every month, but before the last elections it was reduced to Rs 1250. In the elections, Shivraj government had announced that we will take it to Rs 3 thousand i.e. every woman will get Rs 36 thousand/year. Ladli Brahmin Yojana is being considered as a game changer.

Congress’ guarantee fails in front of Modi’s guarantee

To remove anti-incumbency against Shivraj government, BJP had made many moves, one of which was not to announce the CM face. The entire election was fought in the name and work of PM Modi. BJP benefited from this. Also, like in 2018, in this election too, Congress had promised many guarantees among the people. In response to this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also given a guarantee. People of MP liked Modi’s guarantee more and got one-sided vote.

What are the reasons for Congress’s defeat?

The biggest reason for Congress’s defeat was overconfidence. Till a year before the elections, Congress had created a good atmosphere against the BJP government, but by the time of elections, the graph of Congress started falling. After the ticket distribution, the infighting within the Congress had also come to the fore and Kamal Nath himself had talked about tearing Digvijay Singh’s clothes. Along with this, Kamal Nath could not live up to the image of a mass leader.

Kamal Nath dominated the party organization so much that he got senior general secretaries like JP Aggarwal removed. Later, even a General Secretary close to the high command like Randeep Surjewala could not compete with the Kamal Nath-Digvijay duo. Kamal Nath could not stand before Shivraj’s hard work and spontaneity. Kamal Nath’s soft Hindutva gambit also did not work. Bowing before Dhirendra Shastri was a flop. In the end, Congress became a victim of overconfidence.
