MP News: Will the increase in cost of Indore Metro give new impetus to development? Will rehabilitation of 94 villages strengthen wildlife conservation? Will the outsourced model transform rural health services? Will tribal education and labor welfare get big benefits? Mohan Yadav cabinet has given a big message by approving projects worth more than Rs 24,200 crore.

Bhopal. In the meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Mantralaya on June 16 under the chairmanship of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, many important decisions related to the development, infrastructure, health, forest conservation, education and labor welfare of the state were taken. The Cabinet approved proposals worth more than Rs 24,200 crore for various schemes and projects.

Indore Metro Project: Indore Metro cost increased to Rs 19,472 crore

The Cabinet has approved the revised cost of Indore Metro Rail Project. The original sanctioned cost of the project was Rs 7,500.80 crore, to which an additional cost of Rs 5,388.58 crore has been added. After this the revised cost of the project has become Rs 12,889.38 crore.

Apart from this, additional funding of Rs 6,582.91 crore including PPP model, internal debt and other financing arrangements has also been approved. Thus, a total approval of Rs 19,472.29 crore has been given for the project. Additional funding includes additional equity from the Central and State Governments, subordinate debt, bank loans, assistance relating to state taxes and financial provisions relating to IDC costs.

Project Tiger and Elephant: Rs 2,381 crore approved for wildlife conservation

A total of Rs 2,381.15 crore has been approved for the 16th Finance Commission period (April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2031) for the compensation scheme related to Project Tiger and Elephant and village rehabilitation run under the Forest Department. Of these, Rs 1,131.15 crore has been sanctioned for various activities of Project Tiger and Elephant. This amount will be used for forest and wildlife conservation, habitat improvement, fire protection, water source development, maintenance of forest routes, protection of elephants, purchase of rescue material and other necessary works in Tiger Reserve, Kuno National Park and Gandhisagar Sanctuary.

Village Rehabilitation Scheme: Rs 1,250 crore for rehabilitation of 94 villages

Rs 1,250 crore has been sanctioned under the compensation scheme for rehabilitation of vulnerable villages located within protected forest areas. The objective of this scheme is to protect the natural habitat of wildlife and to settle such villages outside the protected areas which are becoming a hindrance in wildlife conservation. Under the scheme, the villagers’ properties will be acquired and fixed compensation will be given. This scheme will be implemented in a total of 94 villages of Sanjay, Satpura, Panna, Veerangana Durgavati, Ratapani Tiger Reserve, Orchha Sanctuary and Kuno National Park area.

Labor Welfare Schemes: More than Rs 531 crore approved for labor welfare schemes

The Cabinet has approved Rs 531.78 crore for the operation of various schemes of the Labor Department. This amount has been fixed for the period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031. This includes schemes like Labor Commissioner Office operations, effective implementation of labor laws, Industrial Health and Safety, Labor Welfare Fund, Child Labor Rehabilitation, Bonded Labor Rehabilitation, National Database of Unorganized Workers and Migrant Workers Commission. Apart from this, separate funds have also been sanctioned for maintenance of departmental assets and other capital items.

Local Fund Audit Department: Rs 492 crore to conduct local fund audit

An amount of Rs 492.45 crore has been approved to continue the schemes of the Directorate of Local Fund Audit under the Finance Department for the next five years. Of this amount, Rs 491.75 crore has been sanctioned for audit and related administrative works of local bodies and Rs 70 lakh for maintenance of departmental assets. This directorate examines the accounts of various local institutions of the state and resolves salary and pension related matters.

Mega Health Infrastructure Policy: Subcommittee will be formed on Mega Health Infrastructure Policy

With the aim of promoting world-class health facilities in the state, a five-member Cabinet sub-committee has been constituted to study the proposal of Madhya Pradesh (for charitable institutions) Mega Health Service Infrastructure Incentive Policy-2026. This committee will study and submit its report on subjects like establishment of super specialty hospitals, expansion of medical education, availability of specialist doctors, better treatment to poor patients and improvement in health indicators.

Community Health Centers: Pilot project of outsourced model in Rewa, Dewas and Guna

The Cabinet has approved the pilot project to operate selected community health centers in Rewa, Dewas and Guna districts through outsourced system. Many posts of doctors are vacant in these centres. Therefore, operation through private agencies will be used to provide better health services. The tender process will be completed through MPPHSCL.

The government believes that this will improve the quality of health services in rural areas and people will not have to go to district hospitals for minor illnesses. The scheme will be reviewed for five years and if successful, it can be implemented in other districts also.

Tribal Education Scheme: Rs 687 crore approved for tribal students

The Cabinet has approved Rs 687 crore for the operation of grant-based educational and welfare schemes of the Tribal Affairs Department. This amount will be spent on the operation of schools, hostels, ashram schools, kindergartens and health centers and salaries of employees of 32 aided non-government institutions operating in 22 districts. The main objective of this scheme is to provide quality education, residential facilities and equal opportunities to the tribal students.

Sericulture Development: Rs 639 crore approved to promote silk industry

Rs 639.25 crore has been approved for the continuation of eight major schemes of the Silk Directorate to encourage silk production and related industries in Madhya Pradesh. This amount will be used in Resham Samridhi Yojana, Tussar Silk Development, industry expansion, branding and marketing, cluster development programme, irrigation facilities and other infrastructure construction works. The objective of these schemes is to increase the income of silk producers, yarn beneficiaries, weavers and entrepreneurs, create employment and develop new livelihood opportunities in rural areas.
