According to the police, due to obstruction in the illicit relationship, the daughter-in-law along with her lover conspired to murder the mother-in-law.
This case is of street number-3 of Nishatganj area of Lucknow, where the body of 69-year-old Nirmala Devi was found in the room of her house on Saturday afternoon. His hands and legs were tied with rope and there were indications of strangulation. On the basis of suspicion, the police have detained daughter-in-law Ranjana and started questioning her.
Dead body found in the room of the house, hands and legs were tied
The deceased Nirmala Devi was retired from the Secretariat. Her husband had died two years ago. She lived with her son Tridesh, daughter-in-law Ranjana and three grandchildren. The family’s house is on the ground floor, while tenants live on the first floor. At the time of the incident on Saturday, the son had gone for his contractual duty in Tridesh Electricity Department.
At around four in the afternoon, the youngest grandson Aditya, who works as a delivery boy, returned home. When the door did not open, he somehow entered inside. He was stunned to see the inside scene. The body of his grandmother Nirmala Devi was lying in the room, her hands and legs were tied with a rope and her throat was strangulated.
Information given to tenant, then police arrived
Frightened after seeing the incident, Aditya called out to Pintu Maurya, the tenant living above. Pintu came down and immediately informed the rest of the family. After this the police was called. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and recovered the body of Nirmala Devi in the room of the house. Forensic team was also called to investigate the spot, which collected many important evidences from the room.
Daughter-in-law Ranjana and younger granddaughter Sanvi were present in the house at the time of the incident. Elder granddaughter Anshika had gone to her maternal uncle’s house in Unnao at that time. According to the police, when Ranjana reached home, her behavior seemed suspicious. On this basis, the police took him into custody and started interrogating him.
There is an atmosphere of mourning in the entire family after this incident. Grandson Aditya, who first saw the body, is still in shock. According to the neighbours, Nirmala Devi was the head of the family and took care of everyone. Police say that the complete story of the murder will come out after the postmortem report and interrogation. At present this incident has created a sensation in the area and people are surprised as to how such a big crime took place amidst family relations.
