Till July 14, more than 31.78 crore unorganized workers have registered on the e-Shram portal. The government has made it a ‘one-stop-solution’, so that workers can get the benefits of various social security schemes at one place.
New Delhi [भारत]July 20 (ANI): More than 31.78 crore unorganized workers have registered on the e-Shram portal till July 14 this year, Minister of State for Labor and Employment Shobha Karandlaje said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
The Ministry of Labor and Employment had launched the e-Shram portal (eshram.gov.in) on August 26, 2021, to create a comprehensive national database of unorganized workers (NDUW), including platform workers and migrant workers. The e-Shram portal registers unorganized workers, including gig and platform workers, and provides them a Universal Account Number (UAN) on the basis of self-declaration.
He said, “By July 14, 2026, more than 31.78 crore unorganized workers have already been registered on the e-Shram portal.”
Microsites for states
Ministry of Labor and Employment launched microsites for States/UTs on January 29, 2025, to empower them with their dedicated e-Shram microsite and effectively address local needs and challenges. These microsites are designed to tailor e-Shram’s services to the unique needs of States/UTs, simplify worker registration, data updates, verification and provide state-specific analytics.
One-stop-solution and integration of plans
Budget Announcement 2024-25 Keeping in mind the vision to develop e-Shram as a ‘one-stop-solution’ for unorganized workers to access various social security schemes, the Ministry of Labor and Employment launched e-Shram- “One-Stop-Solution” on October 21, 2024.
e-Shram- “One-Stop-Solution” involves integrating various social security/welfare schemes on a single portal i.e. e-Shram. It enables unorganized workers registered on e-Shram to access social security schemes and view the benefits received by them so far through e-Shram.
The Minister said, so far, fifteen (15) schemes of various Central Ministries/Departments have already been integrated/mapped with e-Shram to provide access to benefits and social security schemes to e-Shram cardholders. E-Shram also has linkages with National Career Service (NCS) for job opportunities, Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) for skill development, Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (PM-SYM) for pension and MoHUA’s convergence portal.
