A 23-year-old Indian girl working in Dubai is making waves on the internet with one of her videos. In this video he has given complete details of his monthly expenses, which shows the reality of living in one of the most expensive cities in the world. Surya Gayatri, who works as an accountant in Dubai, posted a video on Instagram. In this she told how she manages her money every month. Surprisingly, despite living in an expensive city like Dubai, his average monthly expenditure is just 1,100 UAE Dirhams (about Rs 28,600).
A major reason behind his low expenses is that he has got a house to live in from the company. This is a feature that eliminates the biggest expense (rent) for people living in Dubai. “This is a real account of how much I spend in a month as a 23-year-old accountant living and working in Dubai,” Surya said in the video.
According to him, the largest part of his monthly budget is spent on groceries i.e. household ration. There are not many food options in the area where she lives, so she prefers to cook most of the food at home and buy essential items every week. “I spend about 100 dirhams (about Rs 2,600) on groceries every week, which adds up to 500 dirhams (about Rs 13,000) a month,” she said.
Apart from food, Surya spends about 200 dirhams (about Rs 5,200) every month on personal Wi-Fi connection. His commuting expenses are also very low because his office and home are in the same building. She mostly uses public transport and sometimes takes a taxi for convenience. “So the journey costs around 100 to 110 dirhams (about Rs 2,600 – 2,900), depending on how often I take a taxi,” he said.
Like many young professionals, Surya also sets aside a part of his budget for travel and personal shopping. He spends around 100 dirhams (about Rs 2,600) every month on eating out on weekends. When it comes to shopping, she tries to be disciplined.
“There’s no fixed shopping budget, but I try to keep it within 100 to 150 dirhams (about Rs 2,600 – 3,900). Otherwise I’ll be penniless,” she joked. She also sets aside about 50 dirhams (about Rs 1,300) for small expenses. Adding up his expenses, Surya said that his average monthly expenditure is around 1,100 dirhams, i.e. around Rs 28,500.
“This is completely based on my lifestyle and can be more or less depending on my spending style. This is my actual monthly expenditure while living in Dubai,” he said. His transparent financial breakdown has caught the attention of social media users, sparking conversations about budgeting, saving habits and the real cost of living in Dubai.
