Southwest Monsoon Update: The South-West Monsoon had reached Kerala a few days late from the normal date, but after that its pace has increased. Now Monsoon has entered Maharashtra on time, raising hopes that it may also reach Delhi and NCR by the end of June. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon reached Kerala on June 4. Usually it reaches Kerala on June 1, so this time its start was delayed by three days. Earlier on May 26, the IMD had predicted that the monsoon would arrive early, but the actual arrival was about a week later than expected.

After entering Kerala, Monsoon started advancing rapidly. By June 5, it had covered large parts of the west coast including Goa and entered Maharashtra on June 6. The Meteorological Department believes that the conditions will remain favorable for the advance of monsoon in the next few days also.

According to the IMD’s monsoon tracking map, the southwest monsoon may reach Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) between June 25 and June 30. Along with Delhi, Monsoon is also likely to reach Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and many other areas of North India during the same period. After entering Delhi, Monsoon will move towards Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.
