Leaders of opposition parties will meet today to chalk out a strategy for the second day of the monsoon session of Parliament. On the first day, proceedings had to be postponed due to uproar over NEET and Ram Mandir donation issue. When PM Modi counted the achievements, Kharge hit back.
Floor leaders of opposition parties will meet in the office of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge at 10 am on Tuesday to chalk out a strategy for the second day of the monsoon session of Parliament. Floor leaders of opposition parties meet regularly during the Parliament session to formulate strategies.
The monsoon session began on a stormy note on Monday, with opposition members raising their demands over the NEET-UG paper leak issue and the Ram Mandir donation embezzlement case. There were repeated disruptions in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha and they were later adjourned for the day. Opposition leaders attacked the government and raised their demands.
PM Modi enumerated achievements
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his statement to the media ahead of the monsoon session, highlighted the national and international achievements of the past month and expressed immense pride in the country’s growing global stature. Recalling the arrival of an Indian citizen to the International Space Station just before last year’s session, he celebrated the recent historic achievement by private space startup Skyroot. He lauded the incredible fact that a team with an average age of only 28 years successfully led the country into a new era of private space exploration and emphasized how these achievements greatly boost national confidence. “These startups driven by our youth have firmly planted India’s flag in space, making our country’s profile universal and acknowledged across the world,” he said. Tracing the root cause of these unprecedented entrepreneurial successes, the Prime Minister credited the government’s swift and transformative policy changes.
Kharge’s counter attack on PM Modi
Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge criticized PM Modi’s statement ahead of the monsoon session, accusing him of trying to divert attention from key issues. Kharge asked, “PM Modi’s only job is to taunt and take digs at others. First prove your credibility to the people. Where has that ’56-inch chest’ of yours gone? Today you criticize others, but I ask: What have you actually done for the country? You asked your people to form trusts so that they can steal and now they are stealing indiscriminately. You made laws and nominated people for the Ram Mandir Trust, and your own people are involved in it. Then there is the issue of NEET; who is responsible for leaving their homes and ruining their lives?
The monsoon session of Parliament will continue till August 13. (ANI)
