Mona Singh Recalls Grueling Early Days: Auditions Until 11 PM, Journey from Pune to Mumbai

Actress Mona Singh, who had a remarkable 2026 with hits like ‘Happy Patel’ and ‘Border 2’, recently shared poignant memories of her initial struggles in the entertainment industry.

With over two decades in the business, Singh reflected on the determination and unwavering family support that fueled her journey in Mumbai.

“When I started, I was completely new and knew no one,” Singh recounted. Her father, pragmatic yet supportive, advised against an immediate move to Mumbai. “He told me not to shift right away, saying, ‘Since you don’t have work at the moment, I don’t want you to move there. Once something is confirmed, then you can.’ I agreed.”

Her routine involved a daily commute from Pune to Mumbai via the old highway. “I would get off at Dadar, travel to Mahalakshmi for auditions, and return home at 11 at night,” she described. These were days of relentless effort, often without immediate success. “I would tell my parents, ‘Today, I gave this audition, I did this, I did that.’ There were so many calls where I’d get shortlisted but still wouldn’t get the role.”

The turning point came with ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin’. “And then, you know, I auditioned for Jassi, and there was no looking back,” she added, highlighting the role that catapulted her to fame. Singh’s journey is a powerful testament to her dedication, perseverance, and passion for acting. She is next slated to appear in Vikas Bahl’s upcoming film, ‘Bolo Bolo Bolo’, continuing to embrace challenging roles.
