Mohammad Siraj Embraces Responsibility in Leading Indias Bowling Attack

Colombo, August 26: Indian cricket team’s right-arm fast bowler, Mohammad Siraj, expressed his enthusiasm for leading the team’s bowling attack.

Speaking to broadcasters before the start of the fourth day’s play against Sri Lanka, he said, “I have adapted to playing in Indian conditions as you often play under the sun. Here, the humidity is quite high due to the sea. It’s a bit challenging, but it’s essential to do it for the country.”

When asked about leading the pace attack, Siraj remarked, “I genuinely enjoy responsibility. Whenever a challenge or responsibility comes my way, I find it exciting. It brings out a different side of me. So, I enjoy it. I don’t put too much strain on my body; I just try to have fun.”

On the topic of applying psychological pressure on batsmen to distract them and take wickets, Siraj noted, “When a batsman is playing in his comfort zone, it becomes easy for him. A little conversation can make him uncomfortable. When nothing is happening on this wicket, using this technique might lead to something entering the batsman’s mind, causing him to play a wrong shot. You’ll see what happens. I believe this is one of the qualities of a fast bowler that comes from within.”

Siraj is returning to play after nearly two months and acknowledged that he is searching for his rhythm.

He stated, “To be honest, I wouldn’t say I am a hundred percent fit since I’m back after a two-month break. I am struggling quite a bit with my rhythm in this situation as I haven’t found it yet. I am just trying to regain my rhythm.”

Siraj added, “I am utilizing my experience and trying to maintain control while bowling as much as possible. If I overthink, I might concede runs, and that will put pressure on me and the team. Therefore, my aim is to keep it simple.”
