Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 29 (Desk): Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya sold rations to customers on Tuesday at his ancestral grocery shop located in his home town on the occasion of Dhanteras. Vijayvargiya follows the tradition of selling rations every year on this auspicious occasion.
Minister Vijayvargiya told the reporters, “This is my ancestral shop. My father started this shop and used to sell milk, tea, jaggery, sugar etc… People mostly used to drink tea made up from jaggery. Slowly the demands of customers increased following which, we expanded the shop and today it resulted into a big shop.”
Vijayavargiya, who is one of the senior most leaders of BJP, added, “I am proud to say that our customers now belong to the third generation. Now, daughters-in-law and their children visit here. The customers are our family. I feel very proud to sit at my ancestral shop and meet my traditional customers.”
The minister further extended gratitudes saying his family ran with the earnings from the shop.
“I also extend my gratitude that the expenses of my family run with the earnings from the shop. My Mother used to say the shop is our foster so this shop is our mother. I feel very happy to sit here, meet customers and extend greetings to each other,” he added.
A major Hindu festival, Dhanteras is celebrated across the country with signature fervour every year.
Dhanteras is the first day that marks the five-day festival of Diwali. It is celebrated on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksha in the Hindu calendar month of Ashvin or Kartika.
Dhanteras is dedicated to worshipping Siddhi Vinayak, another name for Lord Ganesha, the Goddess of wealth; Mahalakshmi and Kuber, the God of wealth and prosperity. It is deemed an auspicious day to make new purchases.
Dhanvantari, who is also worshipped on the occasion of Dhanteras, is considered the god of Ayurveda, and is believed to have imparted lessons in medical practice to rid mankind of ailments. (Desk)
