New Delhi: Personal milestones don’t matter for Delhi Capitals (DC) opener KL Rahul, who has made it clear that winning trophies remains his priority. Rahul recently opened up on surpassing the legendary MS Dhoni on the elite list of the highest run-getters of all time in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rahul went past Dhoni during his unbeaten 152-run knock for Delhi Capitals in their clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing IPL 2026. Rahul is now the fifth-highest run-getter in the IPL with 5580 runs in 153 matches at an average of 46 and a strike rate of 138.39, including 42 fifties and six centuries.
Though he went past Dhoni’s run tally in the IPL, Rahul said his biggest ambition is to win trophies. “I didn’t even realise I had gone past Mahi bhai on the IPL’s all-time run-scorers list. Honestly, the milestone I would love to match with MS Dhoni is his five IPL trophies that he’s won with CSK,” Rahul said on JioHotstar, speaking about going past Dhoni.
“Personal milestones are good. They reassure me that I am on the right track. But what would truly make me happy is winning as many trophies as MS Dhoni,” he added.
Rahul has been in fine form for the Delhi Capitals in the ongoing IPL 2026, with 358 runs in eight matches at an average of over 51 and an impressive strike rate of 185.49, including two half-centuries and a solitary century. The right-hander is the leading run-getter for DC in the IPL 2026 and has recorded the highest individual score of 152 in the season so far.
