Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi, famous all over the world for his brilliant football, is no longer limited to just the playing field. This legendary Argentinian player has also made a strong mark in the hotel and real estate sector in the last few years. Today his MiM Hotels brand owns many luxury hotels in Spain and Andorra and this business has become the main basis of his billion-dollar wealth. The special thing is that Messi took this business forward slowly and thoughtfully, and not just by using his name.
Hotel business started from 2017
Messi started the hotel business in 2017 by purchasing his first hotel in the seaside city of Sitges, Spain. After this, one by one he included many premium hotels in his portfolio. Bought hotels in Ibiza in 2018, Mallorca in 2020, Baquera in 2021 and Andorra in 2023. Now a total of six luxury hotels are operating under their brand in Spain and Andorra. These hotels are now operated by the international hotel group Meliá Hotels International.
Messi’s special identity is visible in hotels
The biggest feature of MiM Hotels is that a glimpse of Messi’s football career can be seen in every hotel. Replicas of his eight Ballon d’Or trophies have been decorated here. The hotel in Andorra also serves a special ‘Ballon d’Or’ themed chocolate dessert for guests.
The Hincha restaurant present in the hotels has been prepared in collaboration with the famous Michelin star chef Nandu Jubani. Apart from this, all the hotels have been made environment friendly and have also received LEED Sustainability Certification.
Luxury suites and luxurious amenities
Leo Messi Suite is counted among the most special rooms in the hotel of Andorra. It offers luxury amenities like private terrace, outdoor hot tub and spectacular mountain views. The nightly rent for this suite is said to be more than $600, which is more than double the price of a normal room.
Business expanded beyond the hotel
Messi’s investment is not limited to hotels only. He is also a strategic partner of Argentinian restaurant chain El Club de la Milanesa. Apart from this, their premium wine brand is also present in the market. According to reports, his hotel and real estate company has properties worth more than 230 million euros, which also includes properties in Barcelona, Paris and London.
Thanks to football earnings, brand endorsements and investments like hotel-real estate, Messi’s net worth is now estimated at more than one billion dollars. This is the reason why even outside the field, his business is continuously touching new heights.
