When is Masik Shivratri in April 2026?

According to the Panchang, the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Vaishakh month will start from 10:31 pm on Wednesday, April 15, which will continue till 8:11 pm the next day i.e., Thursday, April 16. Since monthly Shivratri fast is worshiped at night and this situation is being created on 15th April, then monthly Shivratri fast will be observed on this day and worship will be done at night.

During the monthly Shivratri, fasting is observed throughout the day and Lord Shiva is worshiped at night. On Wednesday, April 15, the puja time for Shivratri fast will be from 11:59 pm to 12:43 pm. That means devotees will get full 44 minutes time to worship Mahadev.

How to do Shivratri fast and worship? Know the mantra also

– On 15th April, Wednesday, wake up early in the morning and after taking bath, take water, rice and flowers in your hand and take a pledge to fast and worship. Whatever fast you want to observe, waterless and one meal at a time, you should take the same resolution.
– Vrati (those observing fast) should follow the rules of fasting throughout the day with full devotion. You can eat food at one time as per your resolution. But do not lie to anyone, do not dispute. Don’t even entertain bad thoughts about anyone.
– Start the puja at an auspicious time at night but before that collect all the material at one place. First of all, anoint the Shivling with pure water and then light the lamp. Offer flowers, Bilva leaves, Dhatura etc. things to Shivalinga.
– While worshiping, keep chanting the mantra Om Namah Shivay continuously in your mind. Offer purely prepared food to Mahadev and perform aarti. Do not sleep at night, do bhajan-kirtan with the family throughout the night.
– Next day, Thursday morning, 16th April, feed food to the Brahmins and then have food yourself. By observing this fast as per the rituals, one can get every happiness of life and get the blessings of Mahadev.
