Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the 2026 Baleno facelift in India today, September 5, giving its popular premium hatchback its first major update since the second-generation model arrived in 2022. The facelift is expected to bring styling changes and additional features while retaining much of the existing mechanical package.
Maruti Baleno facelift: What will change?
The biggest changes are expected at the front. The updated Baleno could get a new grille with a slim horizontal element connecting the headlights, along with a redesigned front bumper.
The projector LED headlights and distinctive boomerang-shaped LED DRLs are expected to continue. The test car has also been spotted with new alloy wheels, while the rear could receive a redesigned bumper. The existing tail-lights, roof spoiler and rear wiper are expected to remain largely unchanged.
Baleno facelift: Interior and features
The cabin is not expected to receive a major redesign. The existing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, six-speaker audio system, powered ORVMs and auto-dimming IRVM are expected to continue.
Maruti could introduce new upholstery, revised interior trims and additional equipment. Some reports have also pointed to features such as ambient lighting, a single-pane sunroof, ventilated seats and ADAS, although the exact equipment list will be confirmed at launch.
Baleno facelift: Engine options
Reports differ on whether Maruti will retain the existing powertrains or introduce additional options. The current expectation is that the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing around 90hp and 113Nm, will continue with 5-speed manual and AMT options.
The CNG version is also expected to remain available, producing around 77hp and 98.5Nm. There have also been reports of a CNG-AMT option, which could become a major highlight if confirmed by Maruti.
Maruti Baleno facelift: Expected price
The current Baleno is priced from around Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.14 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelift is expected to command a modest premium because of the styling and feature updates.
The final variant-wise prices and features will be revealed by Maruti Suzuki at the launch today.
Baleno facelift: Rivals
The updated Baleno will continue to compete with the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza. With the facelift, Maruti is expected to focus on keeping the Baleno competitive in a segment where buyers increasingly expect features such as connected technology, sunroof options and advanced safety equipment.
