Dzire achieved the production milestone in approximately 18 years and nine months, while domestic sales of 1,25,988 units placed it ahead of Punch in April–September 2026.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire has crossed 35 lakh cumulative production, joining Alto, Swift and WagonR among the company’s models to achieve the milestone. Currently manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar facility, the sedan reached the landmark approximately 18 years and nine months after production began in January 2008.
Latest Five Lakh Produced In 22 Months
Dzire’s production journey began in January 2008. It reached five lakh units in July 2012 and crossed the ten lakh milestone in April 2015. Production subsequently reached 15 lakh in July 2017 and 20 lakh in June 2019. The next milestones came at 25 lakh units in June 2022 and 30 lakh in December 2024. The latest five lakh units were added in 22 months, taking cumulative production past 35 lakh in October 2026.

Maruti Suzuki notes that the first ten lakh units took seven years and three months to manufacture, while the most recent ten lakh took four years and four months. The production timeline also includes the pandemic-affected period between the 20 lakh and 25 lakh milestones.
Dzire Tops H1 FY2027 Sales
of 1,25,988 units during April–September 2026, up 16.65% from 1,08,006 units in the corresponding period last year. It added 17,982 units and averaged approximately 21,000 units a month.

Tata Punch followed with 1,23,287 units, leaving Dzire ahead by 2,701 units. WagonR ranked third with 1,16,029 units, followed by Ertiga at 1,12,557 units and Nexon at 1,11,919 units. The performance gives Dzire two distinct achievements: a cumulative manufacturing milestone covering domestic and export markets, and the top position in domestic passenger vehicle sales for H1 FY2027.
Export Presence Supports Production Scale
Beyond India, Dzire continues to contribute to Maruti Suzuki’s overseas business. The company says it featured among its five during the last financial year. This FY, from April to Sep period, Maruti Dzire exports are at 25,502 units.

That international presence is relevant to the 35 lakh milestone, which represents cumulative production rather than domestic sales alone. Demand from both markets has supported the model’s manufacturing volumes over its nearly two-decade journey.
Four Generations Of Dzire
The latest-generation Dzire was launched in November 2024, bringing a distinct exterior design, two-tone interiors and additional features. It also adopted Maruti Suzuki’s 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine, replacing the earlier four-cylinder K-Series unit.
Safety has become another highlight of the current model. Maruti Suzuki identifies Dzire as the first sedan to achieve a five-star Bharat NCAP rating. This is separate from the five-star adult and four-star child protection ratings announced under Global NCAP around its 2024 launch. Commenting on the achievement, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, credited customers, employees, suppliers and dealer partners for sustaining Dzire’s success across four generations.
